Dr. Brian Gamborg

Dr. Gamborg was born in Canada where completed his
medical school and residency training.

He worked for 10 years as a family physician in Canada before relocating to southwest Louisiana.  He moved here in 1997 with his family and has lived in the community ever since.

He was in private practice in family medicine for 18 years in Sulphur, LA

He now works with the LSUHSC family medicine residency program in Lake Charles.  The program is affiliated with the LSU medical school in New Orleans and works with graduate medical students who wish to focus on family medicine.


1986 - 1997  Regina, Saskatchewan
  • Office based family medicine including inpatient care, obstetrics, pediatrics, sports medicine and rehabilitation.
  • Coroner with the provincial coroners office
  • Co-director of interdisciplinary rehab program for patients disabled by work-related injuries
  • Co-director of the Veteran's Care Program at the Wascana Hospital in Regina.
  • Independent medical consultant for the Workers Compensation Board.

1997 - 2015  Sulphur, Louisiana
  • Office based family medicine including,industrial medicine, sports medicine and rehabilitation.
  • Inpatient care at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital
  • Inpatient care at Cornerstone Hospital
  • WCCH Wound Care Program
  • Participation on numerous hospital boards including finance, medical executive, peer review, medication safety and emergency care.
  • Organization of primary care ACO for family physicians in Sulphur
  • Board Member and past president of the Calcasieu Parish Medical Society.
  • Member of the Louisiana State Medical Society and district representative on the LSMS board of governors.
